Former Russian national team striker Igor Kolivanov commented on the work of Atletico Madrid head coach Diego Simeone.
"You have to give them credit. Atletico have character. With a coach like Simeone, it's inevitable. Simeone will coach the team until they win the Champions League," Kolivanov said on Match TV.
On 24 September, in the sixth round of the Spanish La Liga, Atlético Madrid defeated Rayo Vallecano 3–2 at home, turning the tide of the match in the last ten minutes. Atlético Madrid have nine points from six La Liga matches and are tied with Betis in eighth and ninth place in the standings.
55-year-old Argentine coach Diego Simeone has been working with Atletico since December 2011. Under his leadership, the "mattress makers" have won eight trophies, won the Spanish championship twice and reached the Champions League final twice.
