Barcelona president Joan Laporta has accused former club president Josep Bartomeu of financial irregularities in the transfers of Brazilian winger Malcom and French striker Antoine Griezmann. According to Cadena Ser, the former Barcelona president will testify on October 24.
According to the indictment, Josep Bartomeu artificially inflated certain transfer fees by transferring funds to fake companies. An example is the transfer of a €10 million fee for the transfer of Malcom, the contract for which was signed long after the transfer took place.
Josep Bartomeu was president of Barcelona from January 2014 to October 2020. He was previously vice-president and a member of the board of directors.
