Deku: We were never interested

Barcelona sporting director Deco has spoken about Athletic Bilbao striker Nico Williams, who has long been linked with a possible transfer to the Catalan club.

"We were never interested in Nico Williams. It was his agent who contacted us several times, not us pursuing him."

"Atletico" should ask his agent. He didn't even fully fit the profile we were looking for... We just have to listen."

 "We ourselves have set the conditions for the club, and after that the negotiations must be on paper. We have made it clear that we will not accept any conditions imposed on them, because no player will dictate to us," the official was quoted as saying by Fabrizio Romano on his social media page.

Williams has played in three La Liga games this season, scoring one goal and providing one assist. He is currently recovering from an injury.
