Roma's 22-year-old Argentine striker Matias Soule has spoken out about the rumors about a possible change of citizenship and joining the Italian national team.

"Two years ago I told Luciano Spalletti that my goal was to play for the Argentina national team. Nothing has changed in two years and my position on this issue remains the same. I am very grateful to Italy, but I want to continue working to receive an invitation from Lionel Scaloni. I understand that it is not easy because there are many great players, but that is my goal," Soule was quoted as saying by Il Messaggero.

The player holds dual citizenship due to his Italian origins. His agent caused quite a stir when he announced that Sule would consider joining the Italian national team if he was not offered a chance with Argentina soon.

Sulé has played for Argentina at various youth levels, including the under-23s, but is still awaiting his debut for the national team. Argentina head coach Scaloni has hinted that he is keeping an eye on the player and intends to give him a chance.
