In the 11th round of the Fastex Premier League, Yerevan's Pyunik hosted Kapan's Gandzasar at home. The team led by Karen Barseghyan has failed to score points in the last five games, while Pyunik has celebrated three victories, suffered one defeat and one match ended in a draw. The teams have met four times so far, and Pyunik has won all of them.
Gevorg Tarakhchyan and his teammates showed activity in the beginning of the match, but did not create any sharp chances. 33-year-old Brazilian Alemao opened the scoring using his technique from a penalty kick scored by Karlen Hovhannisyan.
In the second half, Pyunik, not giving up its activity and changing the playing position of Mikhail Kovalenko, doubled its team's advantage a minute before the end of the regular time of the match. Before that, the most titled club of Armenia was looking for a way to the goal of the Kapan team with a dangerous score. Thus, the "Pomegranate" earns 19 points and occupies the fourth place in the tournament table, while "Gandzasar" is in the eighth place with six points.
In the next match of the day, Ararat-Armenia hosted CSKA Moscow as the nominal home team. It is noteworthy that both teams play their home matches at the FFA Technical Center/Football Academy Stadium, a place close to both teams' hearts. The Army failed to achieve success in their matches against Ararat-Armenia.
At the beginning of the match, Tulipa's boys organized a dangerous attack thanks to the three-way combination of Serobyan and Eloyan Shaghoyan, but the ball went out of play. The "Army" seem to have problems in the defense zone, as during the opening 12 minutes, the "Black and White" continue to attack the goal defended by Hayk Ghazaryan. Both teams are supporters of active football, but sports luck smiled at "CSKA". In the 17th minute of the match, after Narek Hovhannisyan's free kick, Grenik Petrosyan opened the score. The last match between the teams was unsuccessful for Armen Hambardzumyan and his friends. That match took place within the framework of the eighth round of the Fastex Premier League and the result was a draw (2:2).
The teams started the second half with the same enthusiasm as the first, when “Ararat-Armenia” had possession of the ball for 61% of the time and in the 47th minute of the match, as a result of the coordinated action of the team led by the Portuguese specialist, Argishti Petrosyan scored an own goal. “Ararat-Armenia” increased the pressure after the score was equalized and is trying in every way to develop the success to earn three points. As was predictable, the last fifteen minutes of the match passed in a tense situation, both from a playing and refereeing point of view.
Three minutes before the end of the regular time, Paul Iyongo, who came on as a substitute, won a one-on-one battle and scored the winner for the hosts. The Ghanaian footballer also opened his scoring in the Fastex Premier League.
The 29-year-old forward also scored the winning goal in the final game against Universitatea Cluj. Thus, Ararat-Armenia scores 24 points and remains in second place in the standings, losing one point to the leader Alashkert, while BKM is in sixth place with 11 points.
