In the 1/8 finals of the Armenian Cup, Yerevan's Urartu hosted Charentsavan's Van at home. These teams also met in the cup competition in 2021, with the head coach of the Oranges being Robert Arzumanyan again. In the semi-finals of that competition, Urartu defeated the Charentsavan team and lost to Noravank, representing the Vayots Dzor region, in the final.
In the first half, Urartu had a game advantage and created scoring opportunities that ended in failure. Van was also helped by the goal post until Edik Vardanyan opened the scoring in the second minute of regular time of the first half.
The most difficult thing in football is to concede a goal at the beginning or end of the half, and in the 52nd minute of the match, Oleg Polyakov doubled Yerevan's advantage from Bruno Michel's pass. Ten minutes before the end of the regular time, as a result of the three-way partnership of Erik Piloyan, Edik Vardanyan and Karen Melkonyan, Urartu increased its advantage. The 26-year-old Armenian footballer needed eight minutes to become the author of the double (4:0).
Today, the "Araks"-"Shirak" match also took place, where the Gyumri team won the away game 4:0.
