Nuno Mendes: "I wasn't very strong in defense at first"

French PSG's 23-year-old full-back Nuno Mendes has spoken about his defensive game and the influence of head coach Luis Enrique on this aspect.

"At first I wasn't very strong in defense. Luis Enrique noticed that and helped me a lot. Before, in one-on-one situations, it was a little difficult because I was only thinking about attacking. But he told me: 'You have to defend better, then I will give you the freedom to attack,'" Mendes was quoted as saying by AFP.

Mendes joined PSG from Sporting in the summer of 2022. This season, he has made 11 appearances for the club in all competitions, scoring three goals and providing three assists.
