The executive committee of the Confederation of African Football (CAF) has decided to hold the Cup of Nations every four years from 2028, Reuters reports, citing the organization .
During a meeting of the CAF governing body in Morocco, it was decided that the tournament would be held every four years instead of every two years.
CAF President Patrice Motsepe announced the change during a press conference.
The next Africa Cup of Nations, scheduled to be held in Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda in 2027, will remain on the same dates and in those countries. Another continental championship will be held the following year, in 2028. After 2028, the tournament will be held every four years.
From 2029, a new tournament will be held every year, the Africa League of Nations. The 35th edition of the Cup of Nations will take place from December 21, 2025 to January 18, 2026 in Morocco.
