Fabrizio Romano has announced on social media that former Manchester United midfielder Michael Carrick is likely to take over as interim manager of the Red Devils, replacing interim manager Darren Fletcher.
According to the source, Carrick has successfully negotiated with INEOS (the British company that manages Manchester United) and Manchester United management and is now leading the list of candidates for the position.
Manchester United are expected to announce their new manager this week, with Carrick said to be in the running for the job. Norwegian manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, who was previously considered the favourite to take over as interim manager at the Red Devils, is also awaiting a decision.
On January 5, the club announced the resignation of Ruben Amorim as head coach. The Portuguese coach has been in charge of Manchester United since November 11, 2024.
