Goalkeeper Marc-Andre ter Stegen has made a shocking announcement after leaving Barcelona. The goalkeeper has joined Girona on loan until the end of the current season.
"Today is my last day of this season with my teammates and the Barcelona staff, and I have really mixed feelings. I am now full of memories and emotions. For almost 12 years, this club, and especially this dressing room, has been my home. The place where I grew up as a player and as a person, and where I have lived unforgettable moments. I feel a deep sense of gratitude and pride. I love this club, this city and this region. They carry within me a feeling that will never fade. Your support throughout all these years has been incredible, thank you from the bottom of my heart. A message to the dressing room: thank you for all these years together, for the life, the laughter, the struggle and the respect we have shared. I carry you within me. It was a great honour for me to wear the captain's armband, and this honour will always stay with me. Now my journey continues in Catalonia, and I am looking forward to what lies ahead." The 33-year-old goalkeeper has made one appearance in the Copa del Rey this season. His current contract with the Blaugrana runs until the summer of 2028.
