Liverpool defender Ibrahim Konate is in talks to extend his contract with the club, journalist Ekrem Konur reports on social media.
According to the source, the Merseysiders want to complete the deal as soon as possible, as several big clubs are interested in the player. The 26-year-old Frenchman's current contract with Liverpool expires in the summer of 2026. This season, Konate has participated in 31 matches in all competitions, scoring two goals. Liverpool currently occupy sixth place in the English Premier League table with 39 points after 24 matches.
It was previously reported that Real Madrid are ready to offer the defender a contract until the summer of 2031. However, Los Blancos are hoping to sign the player on a free transfer this summer. It was also reported that negotiations between the player and the English club over a contract extension have stalled, with no significant progress made so far.
