Manchester City head coach Pep Guardiola commented on the match against Newcastle (2:1) in the 27th round of the English Premier League.
"Our interaction with the fans today was the best we've had this season. We have five home games in the Premier League and that's exactly the kind of atmosphere we need. I always say we have to play for the fans.
Given how Newcastle played here, focusing on people, we had to beat them in the same style, otherwise it would have been impossible today. Today they played focusing on people, aggressively, won the duels, but we came close to winning. This is the rhythm of football. That's why all the Premier League teams are still in the Champions League: the pace of the game is incredibly high.
"Winning the Premier League is not enough, given what we have shown in many games this season. We have to put in more effort to have a chance. Eleven games is a long time in the Premier League and I feel we will not be able to win all the games, given that we have the FA Cup, the League Cup final, the Champions League and many more games, and of course there will be injuries. A lot will still happen," Guardiola said in an interview with the club's official website.
