Former Liverpool and England defender Jamie Carragher, 47, will travel to the Netherlands in June to watch the Malta national team play, where his son James Carragher, 22, plays.

"Yeah, the whole family has already bought tickets. And there will be a whole bunch of Liverpool fans there, so that's another thing I'm looking forward to. Not just van Dijk, but Gravenberch and Gakpo too."

"That's one of the main reasons why I'm playing in Malta - to test myself against some of the best players in the world. Van Dijk, I think, is one of the best central defenders in history and to be able to say I played against him is a great achievement," Carragher Jr. told The Times.
