In the 17th round of the Fastex Premier League, Kapan's "Gandzasar" hosted "Urartu" at home. The Kapan team played its first official match this year after a break of about three months. Karen Barseghyan's men last played a home match against "CSKA Moscow" in November 2025, where a goalless draw was recorded.
The debut of the year turned out to be favorable for “Gandzasar”. At the start of the match, thanks to the cooperation of Shunto Canada and Annan Mensah, the home team opened the score in the sixth minute (1:0). Taking on the role of the winner, Narek Alaverdyan and his teammates continued to put pressure on the opponent and in the 13th minute of the match, Brugel Mariano Berto doubled his team’s advantage (2:0).
After conceding two goals, Urartu showed activity, there were shots on goal defended by Nikita Lobusov, but they did not achieve their goal.
Judging by the first half, according to sportsworld.am, “Gandzasar” started the spring part of the 2025/26 Fastex Premier League season completely transformed. Unlike the “Greens”, “Urartu” played one match in the quarterfinals of the Armenian Cup, measuring its strength with “Ararat” Yerevan, where it won 3:0 over its opponent, thanks to a double by Artemi Gunko and a penalty kick by Karen Melkonyan. “Gandzasar”’s activity promises a more heated competition in the spring part.
At the beginning of the second half, the Yerevan team quickly reduced the score difference after a pass from the defender of the Armenian national team, Erik Piloyan, Anton Bratkov scored the opponent's goal (2:1). After reducing the score of "Urartu", we can say that the game was equalized and in the 73rd minute of the match, after a pass from Anton Bratkov, Narek Aghasaryan equalized the score with a long-range shot (2:2). Robert Arzumanyan's boys are doing everything possible to achieve victory. In essence, the "Orange" are pursuing the goal of reducing the difference in points with the leader, "Ararat-Armenia". At the moment, "Urartu" is five points behind the team led by Manuel Tulipa, in the online table "Urartu" has 30 points in its assets, four points behind "Black and White".
Thus, Urartu drew with Gandzasar (2:2) and improved their points by one (30), with Gandzasar in eighth place with 11 points. This game proves to be a no-brainer for those at the top of the table to battle with the teams in the second five.
