FIFA President Gianni Infantino has promised to attend the 100th anniversary of the legendary Armenian football player and coach Nikita Simonyan, UEFA Honorary Member and Honorary President of the Russian Football Union Vyacheslav Koloskov reported.
"Nikita Pavlovich asked to remind Infantino of his promise. He confirmed, said yes, yes, I will come," Koloskov noted after the UEFA Congress in Belgrade on April 3.
Nikita Simonyan will turn 100 on October 12, 2026. He is considered the top scorer in Spartak's history (160 goals), was an Olympic champion as part of the USSR national team, and also coached Yerevan's Ararat, Spartak, and the USSR national team.
Despite UEFA President Aleksander Ceferin's statement that Russian teams will not participate in international competitions until the conflict in Ukraine ends, Infantino expressed hope for the return of the Russian team.
