Wrestling European Championships: Greco-Roman wrestlers' opponents announced
Greco-Roman wrestlers will take to the mat tomorrow, April 11, at the European Wrestling Championships in Bratislava. Their pairings have been announced.
Manvel Khachatryan, competing in the 55 kg weight class, will compete in the quarterfinals against Turkish national Emre Mutlu.
Karapet Manvelyan, in the 60 kg weight category, will fight against Polish Olivier Tomas Skripczak.
Karen Aslanyan, 63 kg, will start the fight in the 1/4 finals and will compete with the winner of the pair of Mairbek Salimov (Poland) and Dinislam Bammatov (performing under the UWW banner).
Slavik Galstyan, 67 kg, will compete against Ukrainian Oleksandr Hrushin in the 1/8 finals.
Shant Khachatryan, 72 kg, will start the competition in the qualification round, where his opponent is Ukrainian Parviz Nasibov.
The reigning European champion in the 77 kg weight class, Malkhas Amoyan, will try to eliminate Polish national Mateusz Bernatek from the competition in the 1/8 finals.
In the 82 kg weight category, Armenia's representative Samvel Grigoryan will face Azerbaijan's Gurban Gurbanov in the 1/8 finals.
The 87 kg wrestler Karen Khachatryan will also compete in the round of 16, against Bulgaria's representative Semyon Novikov.
The reigning European champion, Olympic gold, bronze and double silver medalist, four-time world champion Artur Aleksanyan will fight against Estonian representative Richard Karlsson in the 1/8 finals.
Davit Ovasapyan, representing Armenia in the 130 kg weight class, will face Turkish Muhammed Hamza Bakir in the qualifying round.
Tomorrow, the 55 kg, 63 kg, 77 kg, 87 kg, and 130 kg weight classes will begin their performances.
