At the European Weightlifting Championships in Chisinau, the capital of Moldova, Armenia was represented by two representatives in the 87 kg weight category: Liana Gyurjyan and Tatev Hakobyan. Hakobyan won a silver medal in the snatch with a result of 110 kg.

Liana Gyurjyan won a small and large silver medal in the combined event with a result of 246 kg and became the vice-champion of the ancient world.

 

In addition, Gyurjyan won a gold medal in the 2017 European Youth Weightlifting Championships in the 69 kg category for girls under 15 years old in Pristina, Kosovo. She also won a gold medal in the 2018 European Youth Weightlifting Championships in the 69 kg category for girls under 17 years old in San Donato Milanese, Italy. She competed in the 63 kg category for girls at the 2018 Summer Youth Olympics in Buenos Aires, Argentina. In the same year, she participated in the women's 71 kg category at the World Weightlifting Championships in Ashgabat, Turkmenistan.

 At the 2019 European Weightlifting Championships in Batumi, Gyurjyan finished fourth in the women's -81 kg category, but won the bronze medal after the gold medalist Greek weightlifter Eleni Konstantinidi was disqualified.[6][7] The same year, she won the gold medal in the -81 kg category at the European Youth and Under-23 Weightlifting Championships in Bucharest, Romania. In 2021, she won the bronze medal in the women's -81 kg category at the European Weightlifting Championships in Moscow, Russia.[8][9] She finished first at the 2021 European Weightlifting Championships in Rovaniemi, Finland.

 

Gyurjyan won a gold medal at the 2022 European Youth and Under-23 Weightlifting Championships held in Durres, Albania.[10]
