Chelsea could reportedly sign Bournemouth centre-back Dean Huizen this summer as doubts arise over Real Madrid's pursuit.
Madrid are unsure whether they can afford Huygen, who has a £50 million ($63 million) release clause at Bournemouth. Los Blancos signed Kylian Mbappe on a free transfer last summer and could do the same for Liverpool's Trent Alexander-Arnold in the coming months. Moreover, Chelsea are said to be on good terms with the Spaniard's representatives and want to seal a deal before the start of the Club World Cup in mid-June. That could spell doom for Carlo Ancelotti's side.
A potential stumbling block for Chelsea is that the 20-year-old would be keen to move to Madrid if a move were on the table. But with Los Blancos unsure whether they have the funds, Chelsea are leading the race for the centre-back. It is also reported that Huizen wants to continue in the Premier League for now.
Chelsea face stiff competition for the young defender, but Arsenal, Liverpool and Newcastle United are also tracking the former Juventus player.
