Fastex Premier League representative Shirak of Gyumri paid tribute to the memory of the innocent victims of the 20th century crime (the Armenian Genocide).
"In Herher Valley, we paid tribute to the memory of the innocent victims of the Armenian Genocide in the Ottoman Empire," the club said in a statement.
Let us add that on May 20, 1918, the Turks captured the village of Jajur, whose population, along with the population of the provinces of Alexandrapol and Gharakilisa, was massacred in the Herher Gorge. In November 1920, the Kemalist Turkish troops carried out the second massacre, as a result of which approximately 12,000 people from about 50 villages died. The Turks brought this gorge and massively shot, hacked and rolled it down the cliffs. Many thousands of civilians, mainly women and children, were killed from Alexandrapol, nearby villages and the villages of the Gharakilisa province.
In Herher Valley, a memorial fountain was installed in 1968 (for registration) in memory of the victims of the Armenian Genocide, and in 1980, the "Kamq" memorial khachkar (for registration).
On April 24, people from Shirak and Lori regions gather in Herher Valley to honor the memory of the victims of the Armenian Genocide, where they lay flowers at the khachkar and memorial fountain.
