French slalom champion dies after falling during training - 18 years old

Margot Simon, the French under-18 slalom champion, has tragically died during the Red Bull Alpine Park competition, which takes place from April 24 to 27 in Val d'Isere, France. The girl was 18 years old.

 

 According to Le Dauphiné Libéré, Simone died in the early hours of April 24th as a result of an accident (fall) during training. Emergency medical services responded immediately to the incident, but attempts to resuscitate Margot were unsuccessful. The Albertville prosecutor's office has launched an investigation into the circumstances of the tragedy.

 

The International Ski and Snowboard Federation (FIS) has already expressed its condolences to Simone's loved ones.

 

"FIS expresses its sincere condolences to Margot's family and loved ones and expresses its full support at this incredibly difficult time," the statement said.

 

The Red Bull Alpine Park competition is organized by 2022 Olympic slalom champion, Frenchman Clement Noel. The competition included elements of parallel slalom and freestyle.
