Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim has admitted that defender Luke Shaw could be fit to face Athletic Bilbao in the Europa League semi-final. Shaw played his first game since February 2024 after suffering a knee injury in the team's previous 1-1 draw with Bournemouth.
"It's very important [that he played 90 minutes]. We have to be careful with him, but today he felt, especially after the substitution, that he was the player who made that [left] wing difficult for us. He knows how to play in the final third of the pitch and has good passing. That's why we need Luke Shaw."
— Will he be there on Thursday?
"It's difficult after Luke Shaw played 90 minutes. He will probably be in the starting line-up, but probably not in the starting line-up. "We have to be careful with him," Amorim was quoted as saying by the Manchester United press service.
The English defender has been with the Red Devils since 2014. Shaw's current contract with the club runs until the summer of 2027. The Transfermarkt portal estimates the player's market value at 16 million euros.
