Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim said after the 3-4 defeat to Brentford in the 35th round of the English Premier League that Manchester United is not ready to compete in the Premier League or play in the Champions League.
"I'm sure we've started to play better. At the moment we're losing in the Premier League, but we're fighting for the Europa League. Thursday's game is the most important for us."
We are not ready to compete in the Premier League and play in the Champions League, but we need to win the Europa League to give something to our fans. "Then we will have time to prepare the team for these two competitions," Amorim was quoted as saying by Sky Sports.
Manchester United will face Athletic Bilbao in the second leg of their Europa League semi-final on Thursday, May 8. The Red Devils won the first leg 3-0.
After 35 games, Manchester United are in 15th place in the English Premier League standings with 39 points.
