The goalkeeping coach of the Russian national football team, Vitaly Kafanov, has assessed the progress of PSG goalkeeper Matvey Safonov. The Russian goalkeeper has been playing for the Parisians since last summer, having previously played for Krasnodar.
"Safonov has made a huge step forward. He has reached the level of the best goalkeepers in Europe. So, Matvey is now a goalkeeper of a high European level. What does he need to do to become a key player for PSG? He is not obliged to do anything. Matvey does everything right. When he is given a chance, he uses it, making it clear to the coaches that PSG has two equal and strong goalkeepers," Sport24 quotes Kafanov as saying.
Safonov has made 16 appearances for PSG in all competitions this season, conceding 13 goals and keeping six clean sheets. The player's current contract with his current club runs until the summer of 2029. The reputable online portal Transfermarkt estimates the player's market value at €22 million.
