Manchester City's 33-year-old attacking midfielder Kevin De Bruyne has expressed his desire to continue his career in Italy, journalist Sascha Tavolieri reported on the social network X (formerly Twitter). Earlier, Gianluca Di Marzio reported that the Belgian player's representatives had already met with Napoli sporting director Giovanni Manna last week.
According to Tavolieri, De Bruyne's desire to continue his career in Italy was influenced by his Belgian teammates Romelu Lukaku and Dries Mertens. It is emphasized that Napoli are expected to make the first written offer to the 33-year-old midfielder next week.
In early April, De Bruyne announced his departure from Manchester City at the end of the current season. The Belgian has been playing for the Citizens since 2015.
