Barcelona head coach Hans-Dieter Flick has commented on the 2-0 victory over Espanyol in La Liga, which secured the Blaugrana the championship title with two rounds left in the season.
"I think the second half of the season was especially incredible. We didn't lose a single game, which is great. Congratulations to the team, the club and the fans. We are very happy."
It's always very positive to be strong in spirit. The fans helped us a lot after the Christmas break. The Super Bowl win gave us confidence. Players like Frankie and many others have reached their peak, and it's great to see how they have improved their game. I'm very happy.
Usually everything depends on the mood and we have always tried to think positively. When I see the training, the pre-season games… we had a different philosophy in how we wanted to attack and the team adapted well. At Barcelona you have to win titles and three titles is great. I was worried after the semi-final in Milan, but with three trophies I think the club, the players and I can all be happy.
Espanyol defended very well. They played very dangerously for us, so I'm very happy with the victory. "I know what happened two years ago when Barcelona became champions in this stadium, so I called on the players to leave the pitch and celebrate this event at home," Flick was quoted as saying by Marca.
