As part of the 32nd round of the Fastex Premier League, Charentsavan's Van hosted Pyunik in the penultimate match of the 2024/25 season, which is the last match of the 16-time champion of Armenia in the current season.
In today's match, one change was made to the starting lineup of the Charentsavan club after the match with "Gandzasar", where Vahe Gevorgyan's boys won 2:1, and the coaching staff of the "Pomegranates" made seven changes at once. It is noteworthy that goalkeeper Sergey Mikaelyan was included in the starting lineup, who is defending the goal of the eight-time cup winner for the first time. Let us remind you that Varazdat Haroyan and his friends, having defeated Yerevan's "Ararat" in the previous round, retained fourth place in the tournament table and will represent Armenia in the qualifying round of the Conference League.
In the first half, the home team managed to open the score thanks to Momo Toure (33) and two minutes later, Ousmane Ajibona doubled his team's advantage, in the last minute of regular time, on the way to the locker room, Taron Voskanyan reduced the score difference from David Davidyan's pass, which was the first after returning to "Pyunik". At the beginning of the second half, the Charentsavan club restored the two-goal advantage thanks to Bravin Macedo's goal (51). In the added time of the match, "Pyunik" again managed to reduce the score, making the score 3:2 thanks to the effective action of Mikhail Kovalenko.
It should also be noted that this match is a coaching conflict: Yeghishe Melikyan won all games over Vahe Gevorgyan, who was watching his team's game from the stands today exclusively from their first match when the 37-year-old specialist was in charge of "Noravank" SA representing Vanadzor region, with whom he became the champion of Armenia in a short time.
Van will visit Urartu in the final round of the season. In the event of a positive result, they will surpass the former champion by one point and remain fifth in the standings.
