The head coach of the Armenian national team, John van't Schip, spoke about the challenges facing the team, their recovery from the defeat to the Georgian national team, and the level of play in the Armenian championship ahead of the friendly match against Kosovo tomorrow, June 6, at the Fadil Vokri Stadium in Pristina.
"We are happy with all the players who have been invited to the national team, we have had a very good training camp and preparation. But I am also pleased that there are players who are also knocking on the doors of the national team."
When I took over the national team in March, our agreement with the federation was that the games with Georgia and these friendly matches would be preparation for the 2026 World Cup qualifiers against Portugal and Ireland.
That's how we approach the qualifiers, we will try to show the football we want with the ball and improve the team's defense, as you saw for yourself in March that it was not in good shape.
It's always difficult to give players a break after a defeat because they return to their clubs. I received several calls from players before this training camp.
During the training camp, we analyzed the matches with Georgia, not in great detail, but we focused on those episodes that will help us improve our game and present ourselves as a better team in the upcoming matches.
It is immediately clear how high-class and talented a footballer Eduard Spertsyan is. He is showing a very intense game in Russia, and in addition, he has brought a lot of good energy to the team. He unites the guys and his presence is very important. But the whole team must meet that level, he cannot do anything alone.
I'm a little disappointed that Lucas Selarayan decided not to join the team this time because he needs a vacation.
"The intensity in the Armenian championship is very low, and the players mainly play in that tournament. We also need to improve our playing qualities at the youth level so that we can hope to achieve better results in the future."
Let us remind you that the match will start at 21:00 Yerevan time.
