Catalan giants Barcelona are interested in the services of Sweden U21 winger Rooney Barge, who plays for Danish club Copenhagen.
According to Mundo Deportivo, the Catalans' sporting director Deco, along with other club representatives, met with Barca's agent on Thursday. This information was also confirmed by inside source Fabrizio Romano, who noted that Barcelona have already started official contacts to find out how to advance negotiations regarding the player's transfer.
Rooney is currently 19 years old, turning 20 on November 15. During his four seasons with Copenhagen, he has made 84 appearances, scoring 15 goals and providing one assist. His contract with the club runs until December 2025.
It is worth noting that in addition to Barcelona, other European clubs are also showing interest in the Swedish talent. Among the contenders are Porto, Chelsea, Newcastle, Tottenham and Marseille.
