Young Spanish centre-back Sergi Dominguez has joined Dinamo Zagreb. The 19-year-old, who stands 191cm tall, has signed a long-term contract with the Croatian club and will soon start fighting for a place in the Blues' starting line-up.
Sergi is a graduate of Barcelona's legendary La Masia academy. Born on April 1, 2005 in Barcelona, he began his football career at local club Sant Gabriel and joined the Barcelona academy at the age of 15. At all youth levels from the under-16s to the under-19s, Dominguez has played for the youth team in the UEFA Youth League and has even been included in the Catalan giants' first team.
For the past two seasons, Sergi has played for Barcelona Athletic, the club's youth team, which competes in Spain's third division. He has made six official appearances for Barcelona's first team, including two in the UEFA Champions League.
Dominguez also has international experience: he played for Spain's under-17, under-18 and under-19 national teams, where he was even captain.
In Mario Kovačević's team, the newcomer will fight for a place in the center of defense, mainly in the right center-back position.
Dominguez's first words as a Dynamo player:
"I am very happy to come to Zagreb. Dani Olmo told me a lot about the club and the city, only positive things. Dinamo is a club that constantly wins trophies, and that is what attracted me. I want to develop further and I am sure that this is the perfect place for a young player. I am looking forward to starting working with the team and preparing for the new season."
