Everton have officially announced the transfer of France youth international striker Tierno Barry from Villarreal. The parties did not disclose the fee, but the player has signed a contract until June 2029.
The 22-year-old, 195cm tall striker joined Villarreal last summer from Basel and quickly adapted to the La Liga level. In the 2024/25 season, he scored 11 goals, including a hat-trick against Leganes, helping the team finish fifth and qualify for the Champions League.
In the summer, Barry also played at the European Youth Championship, where he helped France reach the semi-finals, scoring the decisive goal in extra time against Georgia.
"I'm really happy to be here. It's a dream for me to play in the Premier League. I had a good chat with the manager, he believes in me and wants to help me develop. That's what convinced me to join Everton," Barin told the club's channel.
Born in Lyon, Tierno is of Guinean descent. He came through the youth academies of Toulon and Sochaux before moving to Belgian side Beveren, where he scored 20 goals in his first season. He then moved to Switzerland, where he scored another 12 goals for Basel, which attracted the attention of Villarreal.
Barry now hopes to become a key figure in Everton's new project at their new home, the Hill Dickinson Stadium.
"The fans here are crazy - I love it. I want to score and celebrate with them," the striker added.
This is the Toffees' second summer signing after Charlie Alcaraz from Flamengo. Head coach David Moyes praised the newcomer:
"We see great potential in him and will give him time to adapt. We hope he will become an important player for us," the Scottish specialist noted.
Barry is expected to join the team in the coming days and begin preparations for the 2025/26 season.
