Barcelona want to strip goalkeeper Marc-Andre ter Stegen of the captaincy. The Blaugrana management and coaching staff have agreed on this decision, believing that the team needs a new personality who can act as a link between the players and the coaching staff, Mundo Deportivo reports.
According to the source, the recent disagreements between the German goalkeeper and the Blaugrana arose because the player announced that he would have to undergo back surgery before leaving the club.
Apart from Ter Stegen, Barcelona's current captains are Ronald Araujo, Frenkie de Jong, Pedri and Rafinha. However, the German could be replaced in this role by Inigo Martinez, Robert Lewandowski, Ferran Torres or Lamine Jamal.
