Barcelona want to extend midfielder Frenkie de Jong's contract and are waiting for the player to give permission to negotiate with a new agent, Mundo Deportivo reports.
According to the source, the Catalan club intends to sign a contract with the Dutchman until 2028, with the option to extend it for another season. However, the player must first sever business ties with his current agent Ali Dursun, with whom he has been at odds for several months. Only then will the player be able to inform the club who the legal entity with whom negotiations will be conducted is.
The 28-year-old midfielder has been playing for the Blaugrana since 2019. De Jong made 46 appearances in all competitions last season, scoring two goals and providing two assists. The player's current contract with the club runs until 2026.
