Former Zenit, Arsenal and Russian national team player Andrei Arshavin has spoken about the prospect of a possible transfer of Krasnodar and Armenian national team attacking midfielder Eduard Spertsyan to English club Southampton.
"I understand those who say that Spertsyan should not go to the Championship. Yes, football there is simpler, and Spertsyan still stands out for his skill. However, England is England. Let Spertsyan choose where he wants to go. Southampton is a normal team. They always sell players there well, make good transfers. As for the English Premier League, then, again, we need to know Spertsyan's position. Perhaps Spertsyan does not want to gain a foothold in the EPL at all, but wants to move to Spain, where football is softer," Arshavin said on Match TV.
It was previously reported that Spertzyan had agreed to a contract worth €1.9 million per year, which would increase if the Saints were promoted to the English Premier League. In a recent interview, the player himself described the offer from the English club as "serious".
