Armenian national team midfielder Edgar Sevikyan spoke about the national team's heavy defeat (0:5) to Portugal in the first round of the 2026 World Cup qualifiers.
"Portugal, in my opinion, is one of the best teams in the world. They have top-class players, world-class. We expected great skill and high-quality play from them. We tried to resist, but it didn't work out. Next time we will correct our mistakes and play more successfully."
"We had plans, we tested different tactics on the field. We tried to neutralize them. Some things worked, some didn't. Defeats are for us to learn lessons from. We need to continue working to make progress," Sevikyan's words were reported by Championship correspondent Valentina Sivkovich.
