Manchester City are considering legal action after Real Madrid presidential candidate Enrique Riquelme promised to secure a transfer for City's Norwegian striker Erling Haaland.

"The information circulating in the Spanish media is false. There is no possibility of this happening. There are no contractual provisions for this. We are considering filing a lawsuit for the intentional use of our player's image," Manchester City's press service was quoted as saying on social media, according to Fabrizio Romano.

Riquelme spoke about his plans to sign Haaland on Spanish talk show El Hormiguero. During the show, he showed off a shirt with Erling's name on it and a notarized document related to his campaign promises.
