In the second leg of the UEFA Conference League qualifying round, Yerevan's Pyunik hosted the Hungarian Debrecen.
The first match of the confrontation ended with the opponent's victory (1:0). In the first half, the "Pomegranate" had the advantage, but in the final stage of the attacks, the 16-time champion of Armenia was facing problems. "Pyunik scored in the first half, but it was not recorded, the teams went into the break with a score of 0:0.
During the first 45 minutes, it seemed that goalkeeper Henry Avagyan, who was acting as the team captain, again made several individual mistakes like in the first game.
At the beginning of the second half, Pyonik liked the ball more, but the opponent's players resisted, then the eight-time Armenian Cup winner began to press forward, threatening Debrecen's goal almost at the end of the game, but failed to finish off the attacks.
During the post-match press conference, Pyunik head coach Artak Oseyan spoke about the team's goals for the upcoming Armenian Premier League season, noting, "The team's only goal is the championship." Thus, Pyunik failed to overcome the Hungarian "Debrecen" barrier in the two-game confrontation and was eliminated from the further competition.
In a parallel match, Armenian Cup winner Noah played against Zimbru in Abovyan, winning 2:1. Gor Manvelyan and Gustavo Khangare stood out for the team led by Sandro Perkovic. Thus, Noah overcame Zimbru's obstacle 3:2 in a two-game confrontation and won a ticket to the third round of the Conference League qualification.
