Liverpool defender Virgil van Dijk has denied claims from fans that the club rested too much before their 3-2 defeat to Manchester United.
"I wouldn't call it a rest. Just a short rest. We don't have many days off, but if we get one, the players can decide what to do with their families. We are not children. Everyone here is an adult. I would like to see a few more days off because it is mutual. You saw how Pep Guardiola gave City players three days off in a row in recent weeks and they performed quite well. It is important to find the right balance. I can understand if people think we are not training. That could be seen as the reason why we are not achieving results," Van Dijk told the BBC.
