Argentina national team forward Lionel Messi has given a positive assessment of the national team shortly before the start of the 2026 World Cup, which will be held in the United States, Mexico and Canada.

"As I've said before, this team doesn't stop halfway. I think we've already proven that against any opponent. This is a winning team that always wants more. We'll go step by step, but with great enthusiasm," Messi was quoted as saying by Tyc Sports on X's social media page.

Argentina will play Algeria, Austria and Jordan in the group stage of the 2026 World Cup. Argentina is the reigning world champion.
