German coach Jurgen Klopp has publicly apologized to Germany coach Julian Nagelsmann for his comments about the 2026 World Cup squad. Klopp had previously stated that Nagelsmann was "still picking" the national team squad as Germany coach. The Germans won 7-1 against Curacao in their opening match of the 2026 World Cup.
"There's one thing I have to say, we need to make time for this. We're also unofficially on the team, we're totally on your side. I found the most hated phrase of the year: 'Yet.' I could have punched myself in the face for that, but it was too late and I was on TV. It just came out so carelessly and has absolutely nothing to do with the issue."
"And I realized: not tomorrow, but the day after tomorrow I will be 59 years old, and I am still stupid. We are completely with you, no matter what you do," Klopp was quoted as saying by the Daily Mail.
