Croatia midfielder Luka Modric is ready to retire after the 2026 World Cup, according to Nicolo Schira's social media page.
According to the source, the 40-year-old footballer has already reached an agreement with Real Madrid to take a position at the club after the end of his playing career.
Modric played for Real Madrid from 2012 to 2025. During this time, he won four Spanish league titles and six UEFA Champions League titles. In 2018, the midfielder won the Ballon d'Or, becoming the first Croatian to do so.
Croatia will play in Group L at the 2026 World Cup alongside England, Panama and Ghana. The match between Croatia and England is scheduled for June 16. The World Cup will be held from June 11 to July 19 in the United States, Canada and Mexico.
